Leona died at Careage Estates in Falls City. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Anna Virginia (Pike) Albertson. She was adopted by Hensley and Mary Belle Benningfield after her parents' deaths. She graduated form Benton High School. She married Ernest G. Benitz on October 28, 1937, at Grace Methodist Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. She is survived by her son, Paul Benitz, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Virginia Ann Jeffers, and her siblings, Tom Albertson, Frank Albertson, Arch Albertson, Sam Albertson, Hazel Foster, Lorene Emberton, Virginia Boucher, and Edna Benitz. Funeral Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
