Benjamin L. Ruhl died on Sunday, March 30, 1986 in Lake Charles as the result of a boating accident. He was 69, born in Plaquemine and a resident of Lake Charles. He was a retired professor in the School of Education at McNeese State University, and was a Royal Canadian Air Force veteran of World War II. Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles was in care of arrangements. Religious services were conducted at the First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles and Dr. Henry Bauden presided. His burial was in Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles. He was survived by his wife Nancy Van Sant Ruhl of Lake Charles; three sisters: Mayme Sue Ruhl Lewis of Canoga Park, Calif., Cecelia Ruhl Donaldson of Lake Charles, and Irene D. Ruhl of Lake Charles; a brother Robert C. Ruhl of Baton Rouge; and many nephews and nieces.
