John W. Morehouse, 64, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, after being stricken ill.
Born in Norwalk, Conn. on April 29, 1944, he was the son of the late Livingston and Mary (Grabish) Morehouse. He attended local schools and served our country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was also in Germany till March 1968.
John worked for the New Canaan Winter Club for the past eighteen years. "John should be remembered as a dedicated employee of the club and more importantly as a member of our Winter Club family. He opened up the rink every morning for the past 15 years. He will be missed by all.", said Ken Gammill, Jr., President of the NCWC. Prior to NCWC, he worked as an independent landscaper throughout the area.
He is survived by his sons, Justin W. Morehouse of Berkley, Mass.; and John Jr. of Nueremberg, Germany and John, Jr wife Sandra and their daughter Patricia and a sister, Virginia and her husband, Michael Gilotti of New Fairfield, Conn.; several nieces and nephews; a sister in law, Trudy Morehouse of Danbury, Conn, his best friend of over 40 years Margrit W. Maguire and his extended family at NCWC. Preceded in death was a brother, Sherman Morehouse (4 May 1927 - 30 August 1995).
John's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 8, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 2:00PM – 6:00PM. Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
