She was born on November 24, 1904, at Jonesboro, Texas, a daughter of the late Thomas William Stark and Laura Rebecca Boyd Stark.
She was a Baptist and a waitress for 40 years.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, J.E. “Tex” Gates Sr., who died in 1967, and Edward Manzano, who died in 1982; and six brothers.
Survivors include two sons, J.E. “Tex” Gates Jr. of Herbine and Jackie Gates of Palestine, Texas; a daughter, Angela Nelson of Rye (Cleveland County); a brother, Venita Roberson of Comanche, Texas; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in Oakwood Cemetery at Comanche. Arrangements are by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.
