Joseph T. Abercrombie, 94, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Abercrombie; mother, Martha Ratcliff; brothers, Oliver Abercrombie, William Abercrombie, John Abercrombie; a sister, Irene Ratcliff.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie L. Abercrombie, of Chattanooga, TN, sons, France Abercrombie, of California, Thetus Abercrombie, of Alabama, James Abercrombie, of Chattanooga, TN, Steven Abercrombie, of Mississippi; daughters, Shirley Stanfield, of Chattanooga, TN, Dinah Johnson, Janet Slatton, both of Red Bank, TN Cathy Abercrombie, of Tiftonia, TN, Renee Wetherbee, of North Carolina; over 30 grandchildren; over 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Abercrombie, of Cleveland, TN.
Funeral service will be held at graveside on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 10 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors and Minister Julian Abercrombie officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Turner Funeral Home Inc., Highway 58 is in charge of arrangements.
