ISAAC H. OAKES, born March 06, 1806 in GUILFORD CO., NC; died November 19, 1893 in bur Elm Grove Cemetery. He was the son of ELLIOT OAKES and SARAH Ann KELLUM. He married Ann Tatum June 25, 1831 in Stokes Co., NC.
Ann Tatum born Abt. 1809 in Stokes Co. (or Forsyth Co.), NC; died Bef. 1874.

Milly (TROXLER)Land Deed of Gift from Isaac Oakes - April 8th AD 1881(deed above this one dated April 25, 1891): I this day give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Milly Land, a parcel of land lying on the waters of Haw River in the County of Guilford in the State of North Carolina near the Flat Rock.

Elm Grove Feb 14th 1849
This day after preaching. The church was called together by Elder Jno Robertson. It being the day set apart for the Presbytery of the Beulah afsociatio to meet & constitute this arm a regular church. There were not a (?groum) of the Presbytery present. Therefore the motion was made, recorded & adopted for the two members of the Presbytery present viz D.G.Taylor & Mr Robertson to proceed to constitute the church & for application to then be made to the next meeting of the Beulah afsociation for admifsion as a church into that Afsociation. The church was then Constituted as the Regular Mifsionary Baptist Church of Christ as Elm Grove.
Elected Isaac Oakes Deacon & (?Geo.) L. DeJarnatt? Clerk.
Selected the 3rd Lords day Saturday before the regular Church meeting day.

This deed made this 25th day of April 1890 by Isaac Oakes of Guilford County and State of North Carolina to George Oliver, W. B. DeBoe, and G. W. Gourley of the said County and State. Trustees of Elm Grove Church & their sucessors in office administers.
That said Isaac Oaks for the love and affection he hath for the Regular Baptist Chuch of Christ and the consideration of one dollar to him paid this day hath this day given bargained and sold unto George Oliver, Wm DeBoe and G.W. Gourley the __ and Trustees & their successors in office for the use of said church .............. Beginning at a spanish oak on t__ Pegrams line running South with said Pegrams line Of District school house line to Pegrams corner 45 1/2 poles. Thence West of South a degree line with said Pegrams line to a stone 5 poles. Thence with said Pegrams line South west to Pegrams corner on Oakes line to a white oak (2 or) 3 poles. Thence North with said Oakes line to a hickory tree 5 poles Pegrams line. Thence East with Pegrams line to a stone 10 poles. Thence North with Pegrams line to Pegrams corner 22 1/2 poles to a stone. thence West with said Pegrams line to a stone in Isaac Oakes field 21 poles. thence North 16 poles to a stone on Pegrams line. Thence East on said Pegrams line 24 poles to the beginning.
To have and to hold and to their successors in office for the use of said church. I do hereby bind myself my heirs executors and adminsto_s, against all other titles claims and demands whoever to said hand to said Trustees & their successors in office for the use of said church forever. where unto I set my hand and seal in the presence of - The day & date as above written.
