Arrived in Vietnam was assigned as a Corpsman with Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. He died as a result of a gunshot wound to the body from enemy rifle fire when Hotel Company engaged enemy forces near Ap Sieu Quan, 10 kilometers east southeast of Hai Lang while participating in Operation Bear Chain.
