My Nannie, Elsie Long Lefever: My twin sister, Dottie, and I, adored our Nannie. She was always anxious to see us because granddad worked out of town all week. During the summer school vacation we would spend one week with her. She would make us good suppers and Dottie and I would wash and dry the dishes. After supper, we would play cards, just the three of us. Of course she taught us several kinds of card games with great patience. It was a wonderful time in our lives. None of us could hide the love for each other. Many years later, after my marriage and after having two children, my husband Chuck and I were still inviting all our family include dear Nannie to our house for dinners and cards. One rule everybody knew about, but not my Nannie, was when we play cards nobody was ever to ask Nannie to let them take her turn, she was to play as long as she liked. Before taking her home, my husband I would pack her a huge package of food already to eat to let her know how much we loved her. She will always have a special place in my heart. Memories of granddaughter Doris Neiman Leibold, Lancaster, Pa.
