Francis Marion Magill was born in Kansas before it became a state. He was considered one of the first non-indian babies born in Kansas. His father unknown was an government indian agent there on business when Francis was born. He was born where Lawrence Kansas is today most likely at a indian mission in the area.

I know nothing of Francis before his marriage to Catherine Davis in Dekab County Missouri in 1851. They lived most of thier lives in Gentry County Missouri, moving once to Winterset Iowa where a daughter Martha was born.

They had land across from the Lonestar Cemetery where they are buried with one son William. He farmed but also made shoes and furniture.
