Daughter of Early Columbus Ervin and Jennie May Wilson Ervin. Janis was raised in Poteau, Oklahoma. She had had 3 brothers Frank Austin, Omer Lee, and Jimmy Doyn. 3 sisters Flossie, Earlene and Katie Maxine.


Janis was married to John Neal Blair and moved to Salt Lake City. The marriage failed and she moved to Dixon, California, where her sister lived. She was working as a waitress and expecting a baby. She met a young Navy man that was on leave and married him Glen Oliver Parman. Glen always considered Jerry Austin Blair his own.


Glen and Janis moved to Oklahoma near his parents' home. Glen started working in construction. Glen and Janis added 4 sons, Richard Glenn, Douglas Giles, Russell Keith and Larry Kevin. 3 daughters Glenda Beth, Nelda Lynn, and Nita Janell. Being a bridge builder none of the children were born in the same city. The older children were born in the Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. The 2 younger boys were born in California.

The family moved to California in 1858 and settled in Modesto. Glen and Janis' home was always a open door home. Everyone was welcome, they loved to plays cards and drink coffee.

In the early 70's Glen and Janis started a new adventure working together in the property management. They worked until Glen started having heart problems. Glen passed away in 1978 and Janis retired.
