Karissa Jae Choquette,16, of Thayer Street, Putnam, died peacefully Monday, July 14,2008 at home with her mother at her side, after a ten year courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Jennifer (Wilson) Choquette of Putnam and the late Arthur Choquette.

She was born July 29, 1991 in Putnam. She was a member of the Putnam High School Class of 2009. She was a First Degree Black Belt and a member of the Karate All Star Team. She also volunteered teaching karate and was a member of the S.W.A.T. team. Karissa had the rare opportunity to meet President Bush. She was an Honor Student and a member of the National Honor Society. Her hobbies were reading, crafts, listening to music, trips to the beach and spending time with her family and friends. For several years she enjoyed the time she spent at the Hole In the Wall Gang Camp. In 2008 she was the Relay for Life Teen Ambassador. Karissa was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her grace and strength will always be remembered by those who love and cherish her.

She leaves her mother Jennifer, a sister Sabrina Gilbert and her husband Jared of Putnam, two brothers A. J. Choquette of Danielson; Kyle Choquette of Putnam. Maternal grandfather Joseph Wilson of Oxford, MA; Paternal grandmother Beverly Colburn of Danielson; a niece Emma Rae Gilbert of Putnam, a nephew Landen Choquette of Danielson, several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends, and her beloved dog Hallie Jae.
