Obituary: Floyd Householder, 60 well known Preston Township resident, and former Pure Oil employee, died unexpectedly at the Richland Mem. Hosp. Fri. noon, following a very brief illness.
Mr. Householder was born in Noble Township on April 1, 1909, son of the late Neal and Luella Bateman Householder. He was united in marriage to Lorena Prather on April 19, 1931 in Olney.
He was a very faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent for many years, and was very active in all aspects and church groups. He was employed by the Motor Transport Div. of the Pure Oil Co. for seventeen years, and then became custodian at Central School. He was an overseas veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife, Lorena, he is survived by a son, Major Fred Householder, M.D., with the U.S. Army at Ft. Benning, GA, his daughter-in-law, Darlene, three grandchildren, Romana, Craig and Darin, one brother, W.D. Householder of Dwight, IL. and one sister, Mrs. Murray (Leona) Bauch of Evansville.
Funeral services for Mr. Householder will be held at 3:00 pm Monday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. W.A. Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schaub Funeral Home after 10 am Sunday.
The family has requested that friends wishing to offer Memorials may do so, if they desire, in the form of Memorial Gifts to the Mission programs of the Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
