Leonard Threadgill was born May, 2, 1926 in Hillsboro, Texas to the late Earl and Rosetta Threadgill. Leonard passed from his earthly house to his heavenly home on February 22, 2009 at 9:01 p.m. at Winthrop University Medical Centre, New York.

Leonard (Lenny) as he was affectionately known was always a very hard working man. He served in the United States Navy for many years and received and honorable discharge. Lenny was an avid listener of Jazz and enjoyed being around the young at heart. He never felt or lived his age and encouraged others to do the same he was a very, very proud man. He also played the Saxophone well and was a part of a quartet in his younger years.

Lenny was very family oriented and enjoyed sharing stories of the good old days. Each Sunday he would take pride attending church with his cousin(s) Helen L. Jackson (Minister William Jackson) under the leadership of Supt. Clarence Johnson, at 60 Cottage Row, Glen Cove, New York. Whenever he could not make the services due to his ailments, his favorite saying was ("I can't attend today, I have to stay home and watch these kids".)

Throughout his life, Leonard endured many challenges, but was able to withstand them all until now. This was the one that he could not overcome. The Lord knew his heart he was tired and called him home to rest.

Leonard and was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Irene (Crudup) Threadgill for thirty five years. To this union he leaves to cherish his loving memory: his daughter Jeanineantoinette Okpala, Son – in – Law Benedict N. Okpala, one Aunt, Johnnie Mae Laws, five cousins, Helen L. Jackson, (William), Denise Borum, Brenda Threadgill, Deidre Fuentes (William), and William W. Fuentes, one goddaughter Sheila Fulton, two sons Andre and David Threadgill, along with a host of many friends and the church family.
