George Robert Campbell who was born in 1866, was the patriarch of the Campbell Clan. Although information of that era is not well documented, George Robert Campbell was born in Dover, Wisconsin and remained in the region until 1905. As best we can tell, he was the son of Robert and Mary Ann (Johnson) Campbell, and the brother of Andrew Campbell, James Campbell, and Christopher Campbell. At the age of twenty-six, he married Anna Catherine Dolister and the couple became the proud parents of six children (Edward, Irene, Francis, Harold, Robert, and Allan). All of the children were born in Wisconsin, except Allan. They resided at 360 Lewis St., Burlington, WI

The Family moved from Wisconsin to Santa Rosa sometime between the 1904 birth of Robert, and the birth of Allan in February 1906. To care for his family George owned and operated a monument business, but according to memories of my father (Harold George Campbell Jr.), George had his hand in a great many business enterprises in order to support and provide for his family. From records located in Burlington, Wisconsin and corroborative census information from the late 1800's and early 1900's, it appears that George's father passed away early in his life, leaving behind Mary to provide for her family while George and Andrew were only three or four years old. After maturing and marrying, George and Anna ran a monument business nearby and lived only a few blocks away from his mother in Burlington, Wisconsin, in order to care for her. We are not sure of the circumstances, but sometime between 1904-1905, the family relocated to Santa Rosa, California, where the Campbell Family took hold and has prospered in a great many directions.
