He claimed that in the 1850s he was a member of a secret society called the "Sonora Aero Club", dedicated to building flying craft. This was supposedly a branch of a parent organization called NYMZA.

His parents were Heinrich Adolphe & Friederike Wilhelmine Dellschau. (NOTE: His birthplace is also listed as Brandenburg, Prussia.)
