Straw, Neva Sue

SHERMAN - Funeral services for Neva Sue Straw will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church with Reverend Lander Bethel officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Waldo Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Sue passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Wilson N. Jones Hospital following a recent illness. Sue had courageously endured many health problems in the past few years and was lovingly cared for by her husband Robert "Bob" Straw. She and Bob were married Feb. 9, 1984, in Sherman and had recently celebrated 25 years of marriage.
She was born in McKinney on March 10, 1938, the daughter of Walter P. Hansard and Montie J. Ball Hansard. Sue graduated from Sherman High School and was employed as a secretary at Johnson & Johnson from 1968 until her retirement in 1993. Sue was a member of Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church and the "Twenty-five Year Club" at J&J. She was an avid bridge player, and since her retirement had been a very active supporter of Home Hospice of Grayson County through her membership in the Auxiliary. While at J&J, Sue was a faithful donor in the regular drives to benefit Texoma Regional Blood Center.
In additional to her husband, Sue is survived by daughters Sylvia Wynne and husband Wilson of Sherman, Lisa Hill and husband Glenn of Hot Springs, Ark., Deb Talley of Sherman, Terri Calhoun and husband Terry of Howe, and Genni Burns of Lewisville; brother, Mirtis Hansard of Sherman; grandchildren, Amy Bruno, Phillip Hill, Henry Hill, Misti Myers, Shae Defield, John Jacob Talley, Shanda Young, Casi Marr, Charlie Calhoun, Bryce Burns, and April Whittington; great-grandchildren, Jordan Henry, Brock Hill, Averie Young, Taylor and Joe Marr, Lorie Stafford, Micah Todd, and Levi Whittington; nephews Timothy Hansard of Sherman and Tony Hansard of Lewisville; uncles, Jesse Hansard of El Paso, and Glin Hansard and wife Betty of Farmers Branch; sisters-in-law, Vivian Straw of Wapanuca Okla., and Nancy Bowerman and husband Larry of Coalgate Okla.; and her loving pet dog, "Skeeter."
Pallbearers for the service will be Timothy Hansard, Tony Hansard, Phillip Hill, Henry Hill, Charlie Calhoun, Bryce Burns, and John Jacob Talley. The family will receive friends from 6 -7 p.m. Monday at Waldo Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Wilson and Sylvia Wynne. Memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County, 505 W.
