Marion B. (Johnson) Berry, RN, 93, of Beech Ridge Road, died February 24th at her home. She was born in Portland on July 17, 1915 to Peter and Harriette Ahlquist Johnson. She attended school in Savanna, Georgia, and Rockland, Maine, and graduated from Deering High School in Portland in 1933. She attended the Maine General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1938. She was employed in nursing until she took a break in order to raise her family, but returned to nursing at Maine Medical Center until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Portland, taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the "Tuesday" Group. She was Past Chief of Nonesuch Temple and Past Grand Trustee of the Temple of Maine, Order of Pythian Sisters. She was a member of the Beech Ridge Community Club and volunteered her services for many years on the Scarborough Health Council. She is predeceased by her husband Ralph D. Berry to whom she was married for 46 years. She is survived by her two sisters: Margaret Hill and Karine Ettinger and her brother and his wife: George and Ann Johnson, all of Scarborough; her six children: son Donald and his wife Sandra of Belmont, son Paul of Biddeford, son Allen and his wife Janet of Buxton, son Morris and his wife Jolene of St. George, daughter Arneta and son Eric of Scarborough. Also, seven grandchildren: Donald Berry, Jr., Ilona Dubois, Christopher Berry, Maryann Saulle, Nicholas Berry, Heather Picard and Hannah Berry and seven great-grandchildren: Christopher Berry, II, Kaitlyn Saulle, Kamden Berry, Ryanne Berry, Stratton Berry, Cole Dubois and Serene Berry; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her extended family of friends and neighbors. Visiting hours will be at Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Rts. 202 and 4A (13 Portland Road) in Buxton (Bar Mills) from 4 to 7 PM on Friday with a Pythian Sister service at 5 PM. www.dcpate.com . Committal will be on Saturday at 10 AM at Brooklawn Memorial Park on Congress Street in Portland followed by a Memorial Service at First Lutheran Church on Auburn Street, Portland at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
