Son of Albert James Petty & Bessie McCall Petty . Rex had 3 brothers Robert James, George Lynn, And Dale McCall. 2 sisters a baby, stillborn, and Velma May, who died when she was 12 years old, Rex was her baby doll, but the only thing he remember about her was going to Grass Valley to buy her a headstone.

Rex grew up in Lincoln, California, then moved to Ceres, California. The family moved to Modesto and built a house on Wade Street. While helping his father build the family home, the girl across the pasture seen him on top of the roof and thought now that's a guy I would like to marry.

He married that girl across the pasture Gloria Ann Wade December 27, 1951 in Carson City, Carson, Nevada. Rex and Gloria were truly sole mates.

Rex and Gloria moved to Long Beach, Califonia. Rex went to work at Douglas Aircraft. Their daughter, ME, Marilyn Patricia Petty Parman was born November of 1952 while they were living in Long Beach.

Rex and Gloria moved back to Modesto in May of 1953, and bought a lot where they build their first home. They built the garage first and lived there while building the house. Rex would go to work as a carpenter during the day, come home and eat dinner and Rex & Gloria would go to their project and work until late. They built their dream house in 1958. They also built a duplex and had blueprints to build a second duplex when he was killed.

He and Bud Hart a co-worker was killed in a car accident on the way to work. My mother's heart was broken, Everyday for months we would go to the cemetery, she would sit next to his grave and I would play in the cemetery. She told me after I grew up, that one day she knew my father would not have wanted her to live that way so she had to stop going, and move on.
