Max was one of nine children. He has resided in Colorado Springs since 1947. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from School District 11.
Max was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Millie Black and by seven brothers. Survivors include sons, Donald J. (Deborah) Black and Randolph E. (Theresa) Black; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one sister, Lida Tipsword.
Max was an avid square dancer with the Fun Finders. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing and wood working. He was known to be "generous to a fault."
Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, 2009 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Services will be Monday, February 23, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Swan Law Cascade Chapel, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
