LUBBOCK - John T. McCracken, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2009.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rix Funeral Directors W.W. Rix Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
John was born in Vici, Okla., to Arthur and Delia Salters McCracken, he served his country for 22 years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was active in the Scottish Rite, South Plains Shrine and the Masonic Lodge. He married Hazel McCabe on Aug. 4, 1946, in Oklahoma City, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1999. He married Patricia Davidson on Dec. 1, 2001, in Lubbock. After his retirement from the Army, he was director of schools plants for LISD, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Debera Tredennick and husband William of Sherman and Diane Locke and husband David of Miami; a son, John Thomas McCracken III and wife Sally of Fredericksburg; a stepdaughter, Dennyce Wallace and husband Rick of Lubbock; a stepson, Greg Davidson and wife Tammy of Paris; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren
The family suggests memorials be to Scottish Rite Crippled Children's Hospital, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219; or M.D. Anderson Foundation, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030.
