Graveside services for Ben F. Walker Sr., 76, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Gridley-Biggs Cemetery with the rev. Dough Taylor, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Officiating,
Mr. Walker long-time Oroville resident died Thursday in the University of California at Davis Medical Center Sacramento.
He was a native of Rifle, Colo., where he was born April 3, 1909. He grew up in Colorado and worked there and in Utah for the railroad before moving to Oroville in 1947.
He worked in the woods for a short time then went to work as a truck driver for the California Department of Forestry in 19513 He retired from CDF in 1963.
His wife, Carrie, died here in 1962.
He is survived by four daughters, Beth Archuleta of Oroville, Shirley Rowe of Murphys, Barbara Holland of Paradise and June Roberts of Texas; one son, Benjamin Walker Jr., stationed in Germany by the U.S. Army; one sister, Dixie Etter of Oroville; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Scheer Memorial Chapel Sunday and Monday from 1 until 6 p.m.
