wife of James Landes "Jim" McNutt - married 21 Nov 1912

Mrs. McNutt, a Bellville resident for the last 25 years, died at her home at 3 a.m. Wednesday, November 14. She was the former Miss Rosa Luhn, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman J. Luhn.
Born September 23 in Kenney, Texas, Mrs. McNutt grew up and attended public school there. She was widely known and loved, and was a member of the Bellville Methodist Church.
She was married to Mr. McNutt in Bellville, November 21, 1912.
Surviving her are four sons, Guy L McNutt and James Nelson of Rosenberg, Ernest Paul McNutt of Freeport and Walter Brown of Colombus; two brothers, Felix Luhn and Paul Luhn, both of Kenney, and 10 grandchildren. Preceding her in death were one sister and four brothers.

Roger Luhn, Felix Luhn, Ervin Luhn, Garland Mize, Lee Talley and Robert Irvin served as pallbearers.

Often listed as Rosa, in a postcard to her before their marriage, Jim wrote her name as Rosie.

Rosa played the piano while wearing a contraption around her neck that would allow her to play the harmonica as well as direct the boys in singing. Her husband, Jim, sat and listened.

Linda McNutt Wyatt said: "Grandpa loved her with all his heart."

Linda McNutt Wyatt said: "Grandma was a dear. dear lady Very talented in many ways I spent so very much time with my grandparents (2-3 weeks at a time). I loved sitting and listening to her play the piano and then watching her doing her needle work. Oh my, even arthritic ridden, her hands moved so beautifully. We would play games by the hour and then make up stories. I am sad that I never wrote any of them down. So that I would not have to sleep in the guest room alone, Grandpa would give up his twin bed and I would sleep in their room with Grandma. After I got older, Grandpa would put a cot in the hall so that I would be near them. She was never very well, so her enjoyment was all in the house. Every evening we would sit on the porch, they in their chairs, and I on the porch swing just watching the stars and talking about the past. Those were such precious days."
