Jennie was my greatgrandmother...

Jennie Margaret - better known to those of her grandchildren as "Grammie" - was a beautiful, stately woman who never went to town or anywhere without her classic hat & gloves. Tall and statuesque she was a model for those of us who followed in her footsteps. She was a human dynamo! She could do anything she set her mind to do, and was active to the end.

Jennie was born to the union of Arthur Ingraham and Eliza Davis in New Brunswick, Canada. Eliza died when Jennie was 7. Arthur Ingraham was a woodsman and during the working season would go off to the woods and leave the children home alone, oldest to look after youngest etc. The maternal grandparents were to check in on them periodically. Well, apparently this didn't happen, or at least not often enough as Jennies thick, curly, Auburn hair never got combed and was a real mess when the situation finally came to some ones attention.

Arthur remarried and lived in Maine with his second family.
Jennie didn't like her step-mother nor her choice of clothes. Rather than wear what Grammie considered an "ugly" dress made by the step-mother, she took the dress and hid it in an old stump where it was never found again!!!
Occupation: Homemaker
At age 16 Jennie went to live with aunts where she learned to sew. This information by my cousin MarDee...
