Born in Whitesburg, Ky May 31, 1898 Join the Army at age 17 Came to Akron, Ohio in 1919 Worked at Quaker Oats for a short time Got a job from Fred Albrect, Sr at Acme Got married January 22, 1920 to Edna Faye Hughes Opened and managed Acme #51 in Manchester til it closed the end of 1941 Moved to Hartville, Ohio and managed Acme there til it closed about 1960 He helped close many outlying stores--Alliance, Orville, Wooster, etc Retired in 1963 at the age of 65 Edna and Joseph had two daughters, Mary Jane & Janet Faye, and a son, Joseph F Williams, Jr Joe sold Knapp shoes for 25 years Joe and Edna celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary January 22, 1995 at Greentown Legion Hall, where he is the oldest member He is also a Mason at Elliot Lodge in Canal Fulton, Ohio He got his 70 year pin March 25, 1995 They now live in an apartment at 1002 Schneider St, North Canton, Ohio. They belong to the United Church of Christ, Hartville, Ohio
