MANCHESTER -- James Newton Carmany Sr., 76, of Manchester, died Friday, Dec. 15, 1995, in Clarion, PA.

A life resident of the Manchester area, Newt retired in 1981 from Goodyear Aerospace after 43 years service, was an active member of Manchester United Methodist Church, and participated in Meals on Wheels, the Board of Elections, and the American Red Cross. He organized the Manchester Senior Citizens, was a Mason for 51 years, and was a member of Portage Lakes 752 F&AM.

He is survived by wife of 54 years, Mary Jane (Williams) Carmany; daughters, Lynda McLaughlin of Uniontown, Joyce (Larry) Armstrong of Sarasota, FL, Cheryl Moore of Hiram, GA, and Brenda Carmany of Manchester; sons, James Newton (Dee) Carmany Jr of Akron and Wayne (Vivian) Carmany of Marshallville; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brother, Rev. Daniel Carmany of Sebring.

Funeral services Wednesday, 11 a.m., at the Manchester United Methodist Church, Rev. Linda Kay Hall officiating. Burial at Manchester Cemetery. Friends may call at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home (Route 93, Canal Fulton) Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church. Masonic services Tuesday, 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Manchester United Methodist Church.
