Wannitta passed away Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 83.
The daughter of Henry W. and Hazel I. Eagleton Sumter was born August 3, 1924 in Claremore. She married Donald E. Kirk July 3, 1954 in Rhode Island where they made their home before moving to North Attleboro, MA. Wannitta worked for Texas Instruments for 42 years, retiring in 1989 as a purchasing agent. She has been a Claremore resident for the past 15 years. Wannitta enjoyed working outdoors, especially gardening.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald, brothers, Lawrence, Raymond, Joe, and Virgil.
Family members surviving are sisters, Geneva and husband, Leon Hill, Imogene and husband, Glenn Hale, Dorothy and husband, Lawrence Bump, all of Claremore, Mildred Fishback and Naomi Horton of Verdigris; brothers, Henry ?J.R.? and wife, Barbara Sumter of Foyil and Kenneth and wife, Margaret Sumter of Claremore; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wed., Feb. 13, at Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. J.R. Sumter officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
