Robert Lott was born on the family farm near Holt, MI. After graduating from Michigan State he started teaching in Marshall, MI. He married Mary Wells that he met at church after her church burned. His first son was born in Marshall. After a couple years he was hired in Lansing, MI at Eastern H.S. He taught science and math for several years and then became an assistant principal. He became a principal at West Junior H.S. and became the first principal of Rich Middle school (both in Lansing). He went into the District administration and retired as the Director of Secondary Education. His wife died in 1946 and he raised three sons essentially on his own for 4 years. He married Alma Gilmour in 1950. They were married for over 50 years. He developed cancer which led to his death in the Stoneleigh Hospice.
