He and his wife were the proud parents of 3 sons and 1 daughter. When Ernie retired in 1949, they moved to Denver, Colorado to be near their only daughter.
Ernest went to work as a bartender at the (old) Lowry Air Force Base Officer's Club until he retired. He met many high-ranking officials, including U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower while employed there.
With the help of their son John, they were able to purchase a home, where they lived until his beloved wife Alpha died. In 1966 Ernest moved to Union City, California to be near his son Clyde and family and entered the Masonic Home.
He enjoyed living in the home, where he delivered newspapers and mail to the residents. He enjoyed visits with his daughter-in-law, Nita, and children. He traveled to Denver, Redwood City, and Seattle, to visit family members, sometimes spending several weeks.
He passed away of natural causes while at the Home. He is survived by son James, daughter Helen, 2 daughter-in-laws, Wanita, Genevieve, 9 grandchildren, Barry, Leslie, Pamela, Carolyn, David, Barbara, James, Judith, and Robert.
Two sons Clyde and John preceded him in death. Missed by all those who loved him.
