Redfield - Ferdinand Darling, 81, died Nov. 16, 1958, in the Evergreen Nursing Home, Williamstown, where he had been confined since 1957.

The son of Clinton and Sarah Webb Darling, he was born May 15, 1877 in Swancott's Mills and on Sept 2, 1905 he married Violet Dean. She died Aug. 31, 1955.

Mr. Darling moved here at the age of 15 and first worked for C. D. Grant. In 1905 he purchased the Gerry Warren farm, and after selling his farm in 1908 to a power company, bought the Hogan place on Maple Hill Road. In 1940 he moved to the Kelly farm on the FLorence-Redfield Road., and in 1946 purchased the Walt Burritt place where he resided until 1957.

Mr. Darling was a member of the Redfield Congregational Church and the Redfield Grange.

He leaves seven son, Richard, Ivan, Marshall and Lewis, all of Gloversville, Ralph, Camden, Robert Centerville, and Raymond, with the U. S. Army in Germany, six daughter, Mrs. Charles Mason, Orwell, Mrs. Elmer Planz, Yorkville, Mrs. George Joyner, Williamstown, Mrs. Frank Rehberg, Tribes Hill, Mrs. Earl Samson, Gloversville, and Miss Evelyn Darling, Richland, 42 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Thursday with burial in Orwell Cemetery.
