Corp Shrewsbury was the commander of the West Virginia State Police Detachment at Hamlin. He was a ten year veteran of the West Virginia State Police, he also served in the US Army.He was shot and killed by Leo Elliott at the Elliott residence near the town of Ranger in Lincoln County while responding to a domestic violence call. The suspect was threatening to kill his family and himself. Elliott approached the police cruiser and pulled a revolver from behind his back,firing and hitting Corp Shrewsbury below the neck. Corp Shrewsbury pulled his 38 caliber service revolver and returned fire hitting the suspect four times, including in the chest. Elliott died at the scene and Corporal Shrewsbury died enroute to the hospital.Corporal Shrewsbury was survived by his wife and five children. God Bless & RIP.🇺🇸
