Robert Dana Hale, 76 years old, peacefully left this earth to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, January 25, 2009, with his family at this side and many friends lifting him in prayer, he fought a hard battle against Cancer. This wonderful man who was loved by many will be dearly missed - he is our Hero.
Robert Hale, who was known as "Bob," was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was plowing snow for a neighbor, a building project for a family member or driving the "blue" church bus so that others could learn about Jesus.
Bob Hale was born May 5, 1932 in Newaygo, Michigan to Cecil and Carrie (Defreeze) Hale. Bob married the love of his life, Phyllis DeGuise, on February 28, 1957 at the Floyd Church of God in Midland. They were married nearly 52 years.
Bob served in Korea in the Army Corp of Engineers from 1952 to 1954 where he received a Purple Heart. He was employed by Austin Construction, Fisher Body in Lansing and worked for The Dow Chemical Company for 37 years, retiring in 1992.
Known as Bumpa or Grandpa Bob, he had a huge heart when it came to his grand-kids. Bob especially enjoyed wood-working, construction projects and cutting wood to heat his home. He enjoyed being at home in his barn or in his easy chair. His favorite things were coffee with "lots of sugar", Tiger Baseball, 1941 5-passenger Chevy Coupe, Country Music and satisfying his sweet tooth.
