WILLIAM LONG, DIES AT 87 - Retired CEU Officer succumbs in Carlisle. William D. D. Long, retired Vice President of the Lancaster County Christian Endeavor Union, died today at 5 a.m. at the Church of God Home, Carlisle, where he had been a guest since February. Long, formerly of 210 E. New Street, Lancaster was eighty-seven. He was instrumental in arranging Sunday afternoon worship services in connection with the county Christian Endeavor Union, which were conducted at Long's home, Lancaster County Home, and the Lancaster County Prison, for number of years, ending about twelve years ago. Church member for 70 years, he was also active in the First Church of God, Lancaster, where he had been a member for 70 years. He was a former elder of the church for 15 years a past superintendent of the Sunday School, past president of the Men's Bible Class and former superintendent of the Christian Endeavor. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Miley Long, also a guest at the Church of God Home, Carlisle; two sons; Dunn McCarter Long, Hagerstown, Maryland; and George W. Long, Lancaster.
