Jacob "Jake" D. Aaron, one of Martinsville's pioneer citizens and business men, passed away today in Shackelford's hospital after several weeks of illness.
A son of the late John B. and Sarah Jane Aaron, the deceased was a lifelong resident of this section, where he first engaged as a blacksmith and wheelwright and in later years as operator of Aaron Mills.
He retired from active work several months ago.
Mr. Aaron was never married.
Surviving are two sisters, Mesdames F. B. Powell of Ridgeway, and J. W. Carter of Mayodan; three brothers, John R. Aaron, this city; C. C. Aaron of Bristol, and N. C. Aaron of Texas.
Funeral services will be held from McKee Funeral Home on Broad Street Friday.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
