Son of Andrew Jackson & Elizabeth (Devine)Watts

The death of Mr. Sam Watts, which occurred at his late home near White Cloud, June 10th, was deeply regretted. For several months he had been suffering from failing health and the best physicians and loving friends did all in their power to stay the relentless hand of death, but in vain. His devoted wife is prostrated with grief over the irreparable loss of her devoted husband, so kind and true. The little boy who called him father, will indeed miss a father's guiding hand in the years to come, for he loved him with all the tenderness of his nature. The community in which he lived found in him an honest up right citizen, and a kind & obliging neighbor. The church at Berea was filled to overflowing at the funeral service, conducted Friday at 11am by Rev. S H Jones, where all mingled their tears of sympathy with the bereaved, felling the loss of a consistent member. The many beautiful floral tributes were expressions of esteem resting on the new made grave where he peacefully sleeps in the quiet church yard.
