Angelica Agarpao passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2008, four months shy of her 80th birthday. A Philippine native, she was known for her warmth, compassion, and kindness. Her beautiful smile, exceptional intelligence, artistic talents, and exuberance for life, profoundly affected all those who knew and loved her. Her love for art, beauty, and fashion paved the way for her talent in designing clothing. She was renowned in the Bay Area Filipino community for her Barong Tagalog, Filipiniana, formal wear, and wedding gown designs, where she differentiated her creations with her signature ornate beading. Her designs brought forth an extensive clientele, which kept her in demand for over three decades. Over the course of her career, she developed a bond with many friends that she designed clothing for, as they all shared the love for Filipino folk dancing, Philippine festivals, and events. She also loved traveling abroad to the Philippines, where she built a manor in Burauen, Leyte, her home town and birthplace. While she was in the Philippines last, she recently took an interest in farming hybrid coconut trees, which may someday be utilized for biodiesel fuel.

When she learned that she had a particularly aggressive form of cancer, she faced each day with resolve, hope, and humor. Her love of life and remarkable courage exemplified the special person that she was. Angelica is survived by her children, Angie Boarman and Chris Agarpao, her daughter-in-law, Kathryn Agarpao; her son-in-law, Rick Boarman; her grandchildren, Robert DeLuca and John Antonio Agarpao; her sisters Celedonia Sana and Lilia Ardina, her niece, Liza Ardina Rosal and her spouse, Joey Rosal; her nephew, Francis Ardina, and his spouse, Kathy Ardina; her grandniece, Francelle Ardina, and countless cousins and friends. Friends and family are invited to attend her visitation on Saturday, April 26, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the vigil service on Sunday, April 27, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, 96 W. El Camino Real, Mountain View. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008, at Saint Athanasius Church, 160 N. Rengstorff Avenue, Mountain View.
