Professional Basketball Player. Born in New York City, he played at the forward position for three seasons (1970 to 1973) in the American Basketball Association with the Virginia Squires and Dallas Chaparrals. He appeared in 71 career ABA games, scoring 442 points with 268 rebounds. During his collegiate years at Davidson College, Maloy earned All-American recognition three-times. He would garner further national attention when he appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1968. He was chosen by the Boston Celtics in the 1970 NBA Draft but opted to play in the ABA. During the 1971-1972 season, Maloy was briefly a teammate of future Hall of Fame player Julius "Dr. J" Erving while with the Squires. In addition, Maloy played basketball in Europe. He died of complications from influenza in Vienna, Austria.
