James Barber, once of area, dies at 75

OSTRANDER -- James Halmon Barber, 75, of 1204 F. St., Charles City, Iowa, formerly of the Ostrander and Austin areas, died Monday, June 12, 1995, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Care Center, East Campus, at Mason City, Iowa, hospital.

He was born Sept. 2, 1919, in Gordonsville, Minn. He married Dorothy Baxter in 1954 in Austin. Mr Barber lived in the Ostrander area during the 1950s and then moved to Charles City where he was employed at the White Co. factory.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Baxter) Barber, Charles City; a daughter and son-in law, Lynda and Roger Bucknell of Thornton, Iowa; three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Emily and Tiffany; two brothers and their wives, Lloyd and Eldora Barber of Dodge Center, MN; and David and Nyla Barber of Booming Prairie, MN; and five sisters and their husbands, Carol Oakland of Glenville,MN; Laura Raymond of Hollandale, Ethel (Mrs. Les) Hoffman and Mae Schneider both of Blooming Prairie,MN and Shirley and Darrell Giles of Albert Lea, MN. Two Sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
