SHANNON - Alma Herndon, 79, retired employee of Wal-Mart, died Tuesday of complications from pneumonia and Alzheimer disease at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Doty Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a member, with burial in Doty Chapel Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Home of Tupelo has charge.

Mrs. Herndon, the widow of Glover Herndon, leaves three daughters, Shirley Armstrong of Shannon, Nellie Jean Brea of Memphis and Sadie Hester of Anguilla; three sons, J. E. Herndon of South Bend, Ind., G. A. Herndon of Shannon and Bobby Herndon of Memphis; a sister, Ruby Bridgman of Okolona; two brothers, Henry Tackitt [sic Tackett] of Hartford, Maine, and Herbert Tackitt [sic Tackett] of Okolona, 19 grandchildren, 33 great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Daycare in Memphis.
