Stephen Lee Thornbury, 52, formerly of Lebanon, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2009, at his home at Republic.

He was born in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1974. He moved to Springfield and lived in Republic the past four years. Mr. Thornbury was employed with Cox Medical Center as a surgical nurse's assistant. He formerly was an over-the-road truck driver and had been a dispatcher with Henry's Towing.

He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church of Bois d'Arc, where he was active with the United Methodist Men. He was a former member of the Lebanon Jaycees.

He was married to Tywana Taylor on Aug. 23, 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Justin.

Surviving are his wife, Tywana; a step-daughter, Twila, and husband, Chris Hollis; and two granddaughters, Taylor and Breanna Hollis, all of Ash Grove; his brother, Roger and wife Brenda Thornbury; a sister, Barbara Shell, all of Lebanon.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, in Wilson Brim Daniel Funeral Home Chapel at Ash Grove with the Rev. Kim Polchow officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield.
