Gregory Glenn Kruse, age 58, of Coal Valley, died Friday, November 28, 2008, after a courageous 5½ year battle with ALS at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Private family services will be held. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.
Greg was born December 23, 1949, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Glenn and Marion Jane (Heirman) Kruse. He married Jill Leif on May 31, 1970 in Swedona.
Greg was a self-employed insurance agent, retiring in October, 2003. He was a member of the National Guard. Greg was an active member of the Cornbelt Running Club, and volunteered at the Bix 7 road race, where he was the committee chairman for the Junior Bix Lost Parents. Greg loved biking, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his parents, Glenn and Betty Kruse, sons,Jeremy (Amanda) Kruse, Jason (Sheila) Kruse; grandchildren, Jacob, Lauren and Collin; brothers, Jeff, Todd, Erich, Brad, Kurt and Mike; He was preceded in death by a daughter, Candace; his mother; and step-father, Ralph Kocher
