J. S. Brown then lived, first in Granville, then in West Pawlet (keeping a store & tavern there) & finally in Whitehall, where he died."

"At West Pawlet, a tavern and store together was built by Eleazer Lyman, in 1807, which was kept by Joseph Ackley, James S. Brown, etc."
