Meadie Jewell ‘M.J.' RossFuneral services for Meadie Jewell "M.J." Ross, 90, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2009, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.Meadie Jewell "M.J." Ross was born June 3, 1918, in Addington, Oklahoma, the son of Merrill Homer and Sally (Nixon) Ross. He died Friday, January 23, 2009, in Oklahoma City. M.J. married his wife of sixty years, Visa (Wilson) Ross, on June 26, 1948, in Henrietta, Texas and they came to Chickasha, where they established their home. M.J. grew up in the Comanche, Oklahoma. He entered the U.S Army in 1943, where he served in WW II. He was a member of the 504-82nd Paratroopers and later a member of the 508- parachute regiment. He was honorably discharged in 1946. M.J. was self employed with many different jobs during his lifetime but enjoyed bartering, trading and selling items of all kinds, the most. M.J. was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Burnice Ross and one sister, Polly Keim. Survivors include his wife, Visa Ross, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law: Paula and Lonnie Brown and Pamela and Keith Morgan, all of Ninnekah; four grandchildren: Timothy Brown of Chickasha, Brooke Brown Britt and husband, Tim, of Edmond, Stephen Morgan and wife Charity and Stephenie Morgan, all of Chickasha; five great-grand children, Colton Britt, Camden Britt, both of Edmond, Kylie Morgan, Lola Morgan and Payton Morgan, all of Chickasha and his dog Piper.
