Larry was born July 29, 1917, in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Stephen and Marra Marino Peterson.
Larry was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, American Legion,Lions Club,Ohio Athletic Directors Association president for two years and past president of the American Cancer Society. Larry is a graduate of Rio Grande College,Oliver College and The Ohio State University where he received his master's degree. Larry served his country and protected our freedom as a soldier in The United States Army during World War II.
Larry is survived by a son, Dan (Lisa) Peterson of Marblehead; grandchildren, Jill (Dustin) Leasure of Cary N.C.,Robyn (Joey) Newell of Dunedin, FLa.,Larry Peterson of Wadsworth; and Elizabeth (Scott) Jedinak also of Wadsworth; great-grandchildren, David (Trista) Leasure, Alexander Molohosky, Hunter Leasure, Jason Newell, Abigail Jedinak, Evan Newell and Luke Newell; great-great-grandchild, Alynn Leasure.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Donna Peterson; brothers and sisters.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chaple, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, with pastor Larry Brown officating.
Bural will follow in the Floral Hills Memory Garden.
Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
