Enoch Bald Eagle

Services for Enoch "Pancho" Bald Eagle, 63, Rapid City, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery. Gerald Blue Horse and William Quijas will officiate.

Wake services will be at the Porcupine Prayer House Friday starting at a.m. and Saturday and Sunday at Cherry Creek.

Bald Eagle died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Fort Meade. He was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Eagle Butte, the son of Taylor Bald Eagle Sr. and Zola White Feather. He grew up in Eagle Butte and farmed on the Cheyenne liver Indian Reservation.

He served, in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, receiving the Asiatic Campaign medal with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct medal and the American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star. He continued his, military service with the U.S. Navy from, 1947 to 1952.

Survivors Include two sons; six daughters; four brothers; two sisters;20 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two daughters and one sister.

Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City Is in charge of arrangements.

Enoch Doughboy Beautiful Bald Eagle was a native American Lakota Sioux Indian born on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation February 19, 1921. He passed away at the age of 63 on February 28, 1984 in Fort Meade, South Dakota.

His father was Taylor Sylvan Beautiful Bald Eagle (b 1897) and his mother was Zola "Zoe" White Feather (b 1897). His paternal grandfather was John Beautiful Bald Eagle (b 1859), paternal grandmother was Mary Good Woman (b 1855), maternal grandfather was George White Feather (b 1865) and maternal grandmother was Eva Comes Out (b 1866).

His siblings were David William Beautiful Bald Eagle (1919-2016), Wilbur Beautiful Bald Eagle (1923), Violet Rose Beautiful Bald Eagle (1927-1999), Ella Francis Beautiful Bald Eagle (1929), Phyllis Beautiful Bald Eagle (1933-2000), Taylor Vance Beautiful Bald Eagle (1935) and Calvin E Beautiful Bald Eagle (1938).

Enoch married his wife Bertha Brave Heart (1929) on November 13, 1952 in Pennington, South Dakota.

Enoch enlisted in the US Army September 17, 1941 in Fort Snelling, Minnesota as a Private in the Infantry in the Hawaiian Department. Enoch was a Sergeant in the US Navy in WWII and Korea.
