Cyclist Killed in Auto Crash

Allen Elmer Ahrendt, 36, 2223 N.E. 16th Avenue, was dead on arrival at Good Samaritan Hospital after his motorcycle crashed into a turning car at S.W. 42d avenue and Bertha-Beaverton highway late Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies said Ahrendt's motorcycle struck a car driven by Donald M. Graham, 31, 5316 S.W. 42d avenue, as the latter made a left turn after waiting for another car to pass. Graham told deputies he did not see the motorcycle, which apparently was traveling in the same direction as his car. He heard a scream at the moment of impact.

Ahrendt was a washman at Northwestern Industrial laundry days and set pins at Beaverton bowling alley nights. He was en route home when the crash occurred.

Surviving are his widow, Gloria; two children aged 6 months and 2 years; his mother, Mrs. George Snyder; a brother, Ray, and a sister, Mrs. Alma Dennis, all of Portland.
