MERIDEN - Raymond M. Caruso Sr., 74, beloved husband of Nancy A. (Webber) Caruso, of Hall Ave., died Friday, June 25, 2004, at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

Born in Meriden, Aug. 3, 1929, a son of the late Daniel and Bertha (Willette) Caruso, he attended local schools and had been a lifelong Meriden resident. Mr.

Caruso was employed by the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Corporation in North Haven until his retirement and had also been employed by the Double A Bus Company, at the Wallingford Depot for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Panama and Germany during World War II and the Korean War, was a member of the American Legion Post No. 45 of Meriden and the National Rifle Association. An avid sportsman, Ray enjoyed spending time on his boat fishing and shooting his guns at the Blue Trail Range.

Besides his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his three sons, Raymond M. Caruso Jr., Rocco Caruso and Robert Caruso, all of Meriden; his five stepdaughters and their spouses, Sharon and Ellis McLaughlin of Claremont, N.H., Kathleen and Ron Judkins of Middletown, Suzanne and Thomas Camire of Meriden, Cynthia Kafka and Gary Bellamere of Wolcott and Allison and Daniel Barillaro of Meriden; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Macri of California; his brother, Robert Caruso of Wallingford; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Elmers and Eleanor Benziger; and three brothers, Daniel, Charles and Patrick Caruso.

His family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford for their kindness and care.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Sunday (TODAY) from 3 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the Wallingford Funeral Home, Monday, at 10:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden
