Mr. Moffett was born December 9, 1914 near Bloomberg, TX in Cass County. He went to his eternal home on July 30, 2006 after a short battle with lung cancer. Art was from a family of cotton planters and loggers who lived in the Gansville area since the early 1800's. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII from the Normandy Invasion through Europe into Austria. After returning home, he may be remembered as "A.L." in retail sales at Western Auto. From there Art retired as maintenance superintendent at the Ruston Housing Authority. He moved to the country to enjoy flower and vegetable gardening for 25 years.
Mr. Moffett was a faithful member of the Temple Baptist Church for over 60 years. He enjoyed the associates and friends of his Senior Sunday School class and will be missed for the encouraging words he had for everyone.
Arthur Lee is survived by his only daughter: Dorothy Moffett-Douglas and husband Robert of Ruston; two sisters: Azzell Taylor of Dodson, LA and Annie Bell Shows of Tallulah, LA; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lois Chandler Moffett; parents William and Abbie Moffett; and sister Opal Stinson.
Visitation will be held at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 from 5-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to: Feed the Hungry, c/o Temple Baptist Church, Ruston, LA.
