Ona married Norton Harnage Bacon in 1932 and they had one son, Norton Harnage Bacon, Jr., who only lived for a day.
Ona and Norton divorced in the mid 1940's and she moved to Kalama, Washington. She married Glenn A. Friemood in 1947 and they had two children: Sharon Friermood (deceased) and one living son.
She was an English teacher and debate coach at Kalama High School until her death. She was an exceptional teacher and received many honors. One of which was to be included in the book "Mentors, Masters and Mrs. MacGregor" by Jane Bluestein. Her story was submitted by Robert A. Moawad who had been one of her students. He credits her with inspiring him and other students to go beyond what they thought they were capable of doing.
