PAMPA - James "Jim" Braxton, 82, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Full Gospel Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock with U.S. Navy honor guard.

Mr. Braxton was born May 28, 1926, in Lela, and had lived in the Shamrock, Lela and Pampa area all of his life. He married Joan Rae Crawford on Feb. 22, 1958, in Fort Worth.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janna Bentley of Pampa; a son, Jim Braxton of The Woodlands; eight grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner St., Pampa, TX 79065; or Freedom Museum, 600 N. Hobart St., Pampa, TX 79065.
