In failing health for five months, Arthur V. Brooks, 74, RR3, died in the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Marion, at 9:50 a.m., May 30.
He was born Jan. 10, 1908, in McLeansboro, IL, to Charles F. and Agnes (O'Bryan) Brooks, both deceased.
He lived in Wabash County 40 years and was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church.
He was married Sept. 21, 1932, in Wabash to Helen M. Smith, who died Sept. 16, 1981.
Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Tony Brooks, Huntington and Daviod Brooks, Sweetser; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Mary jane) Fox, Noblesville and Mrs. Francis (Joan) Mountain, Witchita Falls, Texas; four brothers, Charles F. Brooks, James E. Brooks and Benjamin Brooks all of Wabash, and Carl Brooks McLeansboro, Il; one sister Mrs. james Holdren, McLeansboro, Il; 18 grandchildren and four great grand children. Two brothers and one sister are deceased.
Services were at 2 p.m., June 2 in the Eddingfield Mortuary. The Rev. Roy Hollopeter officiated. Burial was in the Friends Cemetery.
